Visit South Australia

Adelaide City

A vibrant hub buzzing with life, Adelaide boasts great food and wine at more than 700 restaurants, cafes and pubs, great retail therapy in Rundle Mall and the “cultural boulevard” of North Terrace. It is home to some of Australia’s best museums and the South Australian Art Gallery.

An elegant city, Adelaide has preserved its heritage and links with the past and offers a wealth of tourism experiences that are readily accessible from the city. Lonely Planet recently described Adelaide as “the perfect host city” and “effortlessly chic – like a perfectly cellared red, it’s ready to be uncorked and sampled”.

Adelaide is not only South Australia’s premier tourist destination but also a true gateway to the many other tourist regions within the state. Everything is so close in Adelaide, with the beach just 20 minutes by tram from the city centre, and many of the state’s regions within two hours drive away.

South Australia offers the perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. With Adelaide voted “most liveable city in the world”, known as the wine and seafood capital of Australia, and framed by 3,800 kilometres of coastline, Adelaide and South Australia are the perfect holiday destination. With long, warm summers and mild winters, any time is a good time to visit.

South Australia is made up of eleven different regions including the capital city, Adelaide, and is best known for its long summers, stunning beaches and award-winning wine.

Adelaide Hills

Step into an enchanted land of plenty. Visit Beerenberg, Summertown and Glen Ewin Estate. Fill your fruit bowl with fresh strawberries, apples, figs and cherries. Find the magic in the Adelaide Hills.

Barossa

The Barossa is home to some of the world’s most lauded vineyards. It has inspired many local artists. The professional riders will fly through the region but you’ll want to slow down and let yourself be consumed by all the great food and wine.

Clare Valley

Escape to the charming Clare Valley. Hide away in a bed and breakfast or venture out to explore the rolling countryside. Find the magic, and a little romance, in the Clare Valley.

Eyre Peninsula

From coming face-to-face with the ocean’s most feared predator (in the safety of a shark cage of course) to eating a one-kilogram king oyster, the Eyre Peninsula is frontier territory. It’s a little bit scary but a whole lot of fun.

Fleurieu Peninsula

With everything from whale watching to wine tasting, beautiful beaches to biplane acrobatics, the Fleurieu Peninsula is Adelaide’s playground. Find the magic, and fun on your doorstep, on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Flinders Ranges and Outback

A trip to the Flinders Ranges is something everyone should experience. A few days in this beautifully rugged, 540 million year old landscape will stay with you forever and change the way you look at the world.

Kangaroo Island

Freedom isn’t a state of mind, it’s an island. Kangaroo Island is a sanctuary for wildlife and natural, rugged beauty. It’s the perfect place to disconnect from the world and reconnect with what and who is truly important to you.

Limestone Coast

Formed by tonnes of marine life falling to the sea floor, the Limestone Coast is book-ended by rivers. The coast heads south from the Coorong and east to the Glenelg River. It’s a treasure trove of natural wonders.

Murray River

Set your watch to river time. Stop wherever and whenever you want. Eat when you’re hungry. Drink when you’re thirsty. Sleep whenever you feel like it. That’s about as complicated as your itinerary needs to be in the Riverland.

Yorke Peninsula

Fresh seafood is everywhere you turn on the Yorke Peninsula! Dine on blue swimmer crabs, crayfish or scallops, plucked fresh from the sea. Try your luck at catching your own fish from a jetty.
